Detox should you or should you not

I am currently on week 3 of my detox and retoxing. What am I aiming to gain from this? I want to clean my system of all toxins, sugars, and processed crap that I have consumed. I want to have energy. I want to no feel sluggish or bloated all the time. I want to wake up feeling vigorous and refreshed! my “diet” consists of coffee, a red bull here and there dark chocolate, wine, cheese, I do consume lots of greens and fruits throughout and lean meats. But I was feeling tried and run down up top of teaching 13 classes a week and personal training! Being a mom to two active kids and starting up our hobby farm and this blog!! Something had to change. I never thought it might need to be my eating habits. So I took a leap and started a group and we started Sept 5th. So far no coffee, I switched to more tea. I make all my own snacks, and lunches. And I try I mean “detox” through the week with my family and it is a task in its self. But let’s talk about this craze “detox”

Detox. What a versatile word. Detox can mean so many things and you can detox so many ways. But the main reason I'm talking about detoxification is for your body. Have you thought about doing? Have you met someone who is doing it? What goes into detoxification? I can say first hand that I have not once or twice but many times have tried to “cleanse” And I have detoxed for various reasons. Reasons like “You know it’s all most summer and you want that summer body for bikini season!” Or you see ad’s of different potions and supplements to “clean your system” I say if you’re going to detox don’t do it for superficial reasons, do it for your health and wellness. Detoxifying can be rewarding if you go it for the right reasons. Detox does not have to be a hard task. A seasonal detox is great for the mind, body and soul. According to precision nutrition detox means:

The word “detox” is kind of like the word “moderation.” When it comes to detox diets, there’s no universal definition.

Cleansing means different things to different people. My daily diet might seem detoxifying to you, while someone else would view it as toxic.

That said, detox diets typically include certain foods, juices, teas, or colonics — while ruling out others.

Other detox regimes consist of nothing at all – as in fasts.

The point of detoxing is to get rid of toxins. Our bodies do “self cleanse” but we get in the way so much by:

Not getting enough sleep.

We do not eat enough nutrients.

We add chemically enhanced lotions, and skin care to our skin.

We consume too much alcohol and not enough water.

We smoke.

We over use medications and over use supplements.

Basically we forgot how to eat, sleep, and treat our body and mind as the temple it is. So how do we “change” our mind set and look at this as a reward and not a punishment? We can start by treating our body, mind, and soul as our temple. I have so easy steps to follow and you will see results!

  1. Drink more water!! Infuse your water! Add lemons, mint, and cucumber. This will help cleanse your liver and your skin!

  2. Super foods like, green tea, omega 3’s, lemons, and colorful fruits and vegetables

  3. a plant version of glutathione, an important detoxification agent in the brain, can be found in asparagus, spinach, avocado, and squash.( Glutathione is Maintaining vitamins C and E in their reduced, active form)

  4. have less caffeine look you will have headaches because you are in the cleansing area and reducing all the toxins from your kidneys. Try tea. A black tea, rooibos tea, and a white tea. These tea’s have caffeine but not enough to slow down your detox. They are full of antioxidants and taste yummy!

  5. Eat more healthy fats! And proteins! Eggs, Avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, peanut butter, almond butter, fatty fish like salmon, canola oil, and nuts like walnuts, almonds and cashews!

  6. Eat the rainbow of fruits and vegetables!

  7. Read more. Move more.

  8. Involve your family and friends and let them know what you’re doing. Maybe they will want to join

  9. Meditate more. Find quiet time for yourself

  10. Finally the most important step of all find out why you want to do this. Set a date in your calendar and begin.
